Numerous cultivars, among them: 'Aurea' - bright yellow foliage in full sun 'Concorde' - compact, dense habit; superior purple foliage color 'Crimson Pygmy' - 2-3'; reddish purple foliage in full sun 'Rose Glow' - new foliage pink and white 'Helmond's Pillar' - upright, vertical accent shrub Varieties that produces little to no fruit (much less chance of being invasive): 'Golden Devine' - dwarf, slow growing, 12" tall x 18" wide in 5 years; yellow foliage that develops a crimson margin as it matures B. x mentorensis - upright, rounded habit; semi-evergreen; grows 5-7’ tall and wide; hybrid between B. julianae and B. thunbergii; green foliage 'Red Bird' - better foliage color, leaves larger, more compact habit 'Red Chief' - small, upright, decidous shrub; arching branches; narrow, deep red-purple leaves
