A naturally occurring or nurseryman encouraged hybrid between Acer rubrum and Acer saccharinum. and found where their native ranges overlap. Shares the qualities of both parents variably. Generally has the smooth silvery bark and good red fall color of A. rubrum, more incised leaves like A. saccharinum. Generally less prone to breaking than A. saccharinum.
